"Did You Know"

I was told to watch Dr. Strange's Did You Know? 3.0 - A John Strange 2012 Version. I did not know how fast technology is growing. I did not realize how many people use YouTube and also had computers in their homes across the world, let alone in the United States.  If we do not wake up, pull together as a nation, and ignite more momentum behind our education systems, our future generations (and possibly some our own generation) will be gravely disturbed by the academic and occupational crises which they may be unable to escape. The facts that are presented in the video are terrifying, but it does not have to remain this way. Those of us who are enrolled in EDM 310 are on our way to becoming teachers, the future hope for America's classrooms.

Mr. Winkle Wakes

"Mr. Winkle Wakes" is an interesting video that, in my opinion, shows both the pros and cons of technology use in our world today. He discovers all the new aspects of today's world by just walking down the street. He stops by the hospital and discovers machines who breath for humans that can't on their own.

Sir Ken Robinson: The Importance of Creativity

Sir Ken Robinson covered some very important issues in his video. The number one issue being creativity. His thoughts on creativity are greatCreativity is not only useful in the arts. Creativity should be incorporated into the main subjects in school. Our society makes the arts seem unimportant or unnecessary to our children being successful, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Pinterest

Pinterest has to be the best site. It has so many neat ideas to choose from! I could use many of the ideas in my classroom. Pinterest is going to give me some good ideas for cute projects and classroom artwork, especially if I end up being an elementary school teacher. I'm definitely going to use it to find some pictures that I can make and put on the walls of my class that will serve as simple reminders to help my students; such as cues to remember when trying to organize an outline for a paper.

  1. I read your post and I agree we all as a whole better "wake up" and realize how important education and the level of education is to our children. Our education system is so poor now. We as a league of teachers need to get together and strive for a nation of learners and thinkers not just "memorizers." Children are like sponges they soak up everything they are exposed to this includes technology. Great post!
