About me

My name is Samantha Spence. I am twenty years old, I will be twenty-one on May 4th. I come from a small town and family in Lucedale, Ms. I went to George County High school where I played softball for three years. After graduation, I went on to play softball at a few community colleges then decided to come finish my college career at South Alabama. My stepfather, Todd Dungan, graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree here many years ago so the Jaguar culture runs deep in my blood.

I currently reside in Mobile, Al with three other roommates in a house by campus. I work at Academy here in Mobile and live a life just like any other college student. I enjoy spending my time with family and friends outdoors. I substitute teach on a somewhat regular basis, giving me some pretty good practice for the future. Although I am probably different than everyone else in some way, I am an average college student working every day towards my Education degree.

My Future Classroom

Most teachers have very similar classrooms, usually consisting of a multiplication chart or a "Hang in there" kitten poster; however, I've always had this vision of my classroom as this creation made by my students each year. Instead of posters bought or made by me or past students throughout my teaching career, I'd like my students to make the classroom each and every year. Throughout the year, the room will evolve and change. My walls will fill with new creations and evidence of how my students have learned all year long.

Of course each teacher has to follow the same type of curriculum, certain worksheets have to be given out and so forth, but I have this vision of teaching through creation. Anything I can make into a fun and creative project for my students, I will. A childs' mind is playful and imaginative, it would be ridiculous not to allow that child's mind to pour out into something creative and educational. Learning will be more than fun in my future classroom, it will become evidence made by my students and that evidence will cover and fill the walls.

Time Management

Time is a valuable thing. The way someone uses, distributes, and wastes their time can say a lot about their life and the way they plan to live it. My time is precious, I never know when or where it will be up; therefore, I like to be very cautious on how I spend it. I have several goals and ideas I'd like to reach and create; however, I can't meet or create any of my goals or ideas without using my time wisely. If there is a deadline, you must meet the deadline. If you never meet the deadline, then the deadline is pointless. Time is valuable, so I do not waste it.
